Exhibit Statement

Archivo is an international Mexican literature archive of a bookstore that features a wide variety of books in a modern and cozy environment. It is the world’s largest go-to place for cultural enlightenment of all Mexican literature. I created this brand to dig deep into the roots of my heritage while creating a professional brand identity for a business that could potentially reach those interested in Mexican culture. Being a first-generation graduate in my family, this project was not only fun to create but emotional as this brand is a tribute to my family back home in Mexico. It is almost like a bridge that connects two worlds that I belonged in and if it was built to fruition, can help others learn and appreciate the Latin American community.

I find Mexican literature created by talented writers, artists, musicians, and poets hard to find in global libraries and even harder to collect in countries where some books can be banned or unavailable. It is difficult to learn about the culture when the literature is not thought to be popular enough to be in certain places, which can limit the reach of the ideas of Mexican artists, writers, and music. With this brand, literature, and learning can be more accessible to hard-to-reach writers and give them the boost to share their art with those who are willing to appreciate and enrich their education.

Featured in this exhibit is the promotional poster, advertising a discount on all items during September, known as Hispanic Heritage Month. There is also a preview of the website and app of the Archivo business. There is also a variety of promotional items such as a pillow for the lounge of the bookstore, a coffee cup with the logo on it, and a custom tote bag to carry all the heavy books. In addition to the promotional items, there is a stack of books featuring the most popular books that are found on social media that young adults are reading now.
